The 20th-anniversary Fireblade was a careful update of the 2008 design rather than a new bike. Honda fitted a Showa Big Piston fork and Balance Free rear shock, new 12-spoke wheels, layered bodywork with a chin spoiler and an LCD dash with lap timer and shift light, and retuned the fuel injection for smoother low-throttle response. Testers liked the chassis and refinement but noted it still had no traction control or quickshifter.
